The Secret Place (Part 2)

Updated: Feb 1, 2021

In today's True Vision Blog post, Betty Muse continues with Part 2 of "The Secret Place". This past season has been challenging for most, and we can all use some encouragement! We believe you will find Betty's post to be uplifting and enlightening.

“He that dwelleth in the Secret Place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty!” Psalm 91:1

Well, I’d say it’s hanging in real close with Abba Father. Some of us as children used to hang so close to our earthly Fathers that we were like their shadows! This verse says we will be under His shadow. No excuse not to be dwelling under it because it’s huge, Y’all!!! It’s a magnificent shadow that covers LOTS of territory. Looks to me like Abba has made provision for us to be there!! You see, He wants us to dwell there more than we do!!

Back to my original question (be sure to read part 1 of this blog)……… Good question!! Do you remember as a child playing hide-and-go-seek? Did you have a secret place (your very own hide out) where no one could find you unless you wanted to be found? There is such a place “in Him”. It’s a safe place in the midst of the storms of life where you feel secure. (Oh, how I need this place!!) When the enemy of your soul is seeking you, he can’t find you there when you are hiding “in Him”. It’s like a Goshen (Genesis 47: 1-12) place of protection where nothing evil is allowed. YAY!! An actual place of comfort, provision and safety.

Listed below are some scriptures for you to meditate on in order to find your place there:

-Psalm 139:5 "You hem me in behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me."

-Psalm 32:7 "You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance."

-Psalm 27:5 "For in the day of trouble He will keep me safe in His dwelling; He will hide me in the shelter of His sacred tent and set me high upon a rock."

-Psalm 31:20 "Thou shalt hide them in the secret of Thy Presence from the pride of man: Thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues."

-Psalm 34:7 "The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear Him, and delivereth them."

-Psalm 46:10 "Be still (wait) and know that I Am God..."

-Isaiah 4:5-6 "Then the Lord will create over all of Mt. Zion and over all those who assemble there a cloud of smoke by day and a glow of flaming fire by night; over all the glory will be a canopy. It will be a shelter and shade from the heat of the day, and a refuge and hiding place from the storm and rain."

-Isaiah 40:31 "Those who wait upon the Lord will renew their strength."

According to Psalm 56:8, He collects your tears in a bottle; Luke 12:7 counts every hair on your head; and according to Isaiah 49:16 has your name written on His palms! You are His Song of Solomon beloved bride, a redeemed, and forgiven child!

-Matthew 14:13 "When Jesus heard what had happened, He withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place." (By Himself alone with Father.) This is our example because if He needed the Secret Place time how much more do we! This time in His Presence is where He teaches and shapes us. We become transformed into His likeness!

So, Beloved, the Secret Place is considered a shelter, dwelling, tent, an intimate love experience where we receive strength and we are changed & empowered. From this Place we are allowed to see life from a heavenly perspective and receive divine revelation. Drink deeply of the pleasures of this God and experience for yourself the joyous mercies He gives to all who turn to hide themselves in Him. Position yourself!

We have been given access to the Secret Place by Jesus and we hear no other voice but His. Ephesians 2:6 assures us that we are seated with Him in heavenly realms. The devil can not come into the Secret Place.

Are you feeling safe yet, beloved? Selah (pause/reflect)

Hmmm…..To dwell indicates that we remain or live in a place, not just run in and out of like the grocery store. We’ve heard it said, “home is where the heart is”. Where is your heart, Beloved? I believe we are talking lifestyle here! In order to develop and actually live this lifestyle, we have to make mention of two four-letter words—(drum roll, please…..) WAIT and TIME!! The lifestyle the author of Psalm 91 is referring to involves a relationship of prayer and lingering in His Presence. This is a place to meet and fellowship with Yeshua, the Lover of your soul. In this place of divine encounter you will worship and hear from heaven. All the noise of the world is muted and opposition of the enemy is closed access! YAY! Let’s take a look at Exodus 33:11, "And Jehovah spake with Moses face to face. And he returned to the camp; but his attendant, Joshua, departed not from within the tent." Joshua lingered in The Presence!! Don’t you wish he were here so we could pick his brain? I image he could tell us plenty about the Secret Place. (Woo hoo & warm fuzzies!!)

As we enter the Secret Place, we go into a place of peace where the Presence of God is so strong. It’s like a Garden of Eden in this life, a place of beauty, peace, rest and security. Let’s camp out in Song of Solomon 5:13 - "Looking at his gentle face I see such fullness of emotion. Like a lovely garden where fragrant spices grow—what a man!" (TPT Note: The Hebrew text is literally “like a tower of fragrance”. These beds of spices would picture a garden of emotion and sweetness coming forth from her Beloved). When the Shulamite Bride encountered His Presence she literally smelled His fragrance like a secret garden of which she alone could partake. Selah (pause/reflect)

The Secret Place is a safe place according to intercessor, author and Secret Place dweller, Virginia Dawkins, who says, “it’s the best place you can be!” Another Secret Place dweller, Mildred Rhoden, says, “it’s our resting place in Him that we can read about in the book of Hebrews.” You see, beloved, it’s not really a secret at all because those who have found it can’t keep it a secret! They simply must tell and so will you! YAY! Can’t wait to hear!

Jeremiah 29:13 answers that for us! “And ye shall seek Me, and find Me, when you seek Me with all your heart.” It’s no longer a “secret”!

Word is out! Your Beloved awaits YOU!!! Selah (pause/reflect)
